Qualifications

• Aimed to commence Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Apprenticeship (B2 - Avionics).
• Strong literacy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a team and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections and troubleshooting on aircraft avionics systems under supervision.
• Install, test and repair avionics equipment and components per manufacturer specs and regulatory requirements.
• Follow technical manuals, maintenance schedules and work instructions to complete tasks accurately and safely.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records and documentation for all work performed on aircraft systems.
• Assist in diagnosing and resolving avionics faults reported by flight crews.
• Conduct routine servicing and component replacements as directed by senior maintenance engineers.
• Ensure compliance with CASA regulations and safety procedures at all times.
• Participate in on-the-job training and formal classroom instruction to achieve apprenticeship qualifications.
• Contribute to a collaborative maintenance team environment and support colleagues.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Apprenticeship 2027 (B2 - Avionics)

The Field Air Group is seeking a talented and committed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Apprentice (B2 - Avionics) to join our team in Mitchell Park, VIC from January 4th 2027.

This is an exciting full-time apprenticeship opportunity within the aircraft engineering industry, offering you the chance to develop specialised skills in aircraft avionic maintenance and support. As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced engineers to gain practical, hands‑on experience in maintaining and servicing aircraft systems whilst completing your formal qualifications. This role is fundamental to ensuring the safety and reliability of aircraft operations, and you will play a vital part in our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of aviation maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Performing routine maintenance, inspections and troubleshooting on aircraft avionics systems under the supervision of qualified engineers
• Installing, testing and repairing avionics equipment and components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements

About the Opportunity

Field Air’s maintenance division covers a wide range of activities including both piston and turbine aircraft in the agricultural, firefighting and general aviation sectors.

There is also scope at certain times of the year to be actively involved in the field support of our aircraft in both the aerial agricultural and aerial firefighting sectors. This year our maintenance team will provide Air Tractor maintenance support around Australia as well as customer support in locations such as New Zealand, Greece, Indonesia and China.

Hours of Work

This role is advertised as a full-time position on a Monday to Friday basis with the typical work day from 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00am to 2:30pm Friday from the 4th January 2027.
