Job summary

Level Electrical & Air Maitland is seeking an experienced Air Conditioning Technician to join our team. You will install, service and repair air conditioning and heat pump systems across residential, commercial and industrial sites, diagnosing faults and ensuring work meets Australian standards.

You may also coach apprentices while maintaining detailed job records. We offer above-award wages and a four-day work week option, in a growing local business covering Maitland, Newcastle and the Hunter

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration required or equivalent.
• Strong installation, servicing and fault-finding skills.
• Understanding of refrigeration, electrical and safety standards.
• Clear communication with customers and ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair air conditioning and heat pump systems.
• Work across residential, commercial and industrial sites.
• Diagnose HVAC faults using diagnostic tools.
• Read and interpret schematics/mechanical/electrical diagrams.
• Complete work safely and in line with Australian standards.
• Keep customers informed of faults, solutions and costs.
• Mentor apprentices and supervise junior staff.
• Maintain accurate job records and material ordering.

What you’ll be doing

In this hands-on role, you will:

• Install, maintain and repair air conditioning and heat pump systems
• Work across residential, commercial and industrial sites
• Diagnose HVAC faults using gauges, thermometers and other diagnostic tools
• Read and interpret mechanical, electrical and refrigeration schematics
• Complete work safely, neatly and in line with Australian standards
• Explain faults, recommended solutions and service costs clearly to customers
• Identify out-of-scope work requiring a variation or quotation
• Collaborate with other technicians and trades on project installations
• Maintain accurate job records, timesheets and photo documentation using field-based software
• Organise job-specific materials through preferred suppliers
• Support, coach and supervise air conditioning apprentices
• Represent the business professionally through your workmanship, communication and site conduct

What you’ll bring

We’d like to hear from you if you have:

• Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
• Strong installation, servicing and fault-finding skills
• A sound understanding of refrigeration, electrical and safety standards
• Clear communication skills and a professional approach with customers
• The ability to work independently and contribute to a team
• Pride in delivering reliable, high-quality workmanship
• Confidence using digital job-management tools, or the willingness to learn
• A current Police Check and Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain them

A dual air conditioning and electrical trade qualification will be highly regarded, but it isn’t essential.

Third- and fourth-year apprentices are also encouraged to apply.
