Job summary

Cover Genius is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to lead reliability and infrastructure initiatives across teams. You will own cloud infrastructure design, tooling, security, and observability, with a focus on AI-assisted development and cost optimization.

You will collaborate with software, security, and product teams to deliver scalable, highly available systems. We value proactive risk management, design excellence, and mentorship across the engineering org.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in SRE, Platform Engineering, DevOps or related roles.
• Strong understanding of SRE and platform engineering principles.
• Experience with observability tools: Datadog, Elasticsearch, Prometheus, Grafana.
• Experience with cloud native/container tech: Docker, Kubernetes.
• IaC modules via Terraform.
• Scripting in Bash and at least one language (Python/Go).
• AI-assisted development environments in production workflows.
• Experience with Linux, networking, distributed systems at scale.
• Experts in AWS and/or GCP platforms.
• BS in CS/Engineering or higher desirable.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, test, and evolve systems to improve reliability and performance; lead medium-to-large projects.
• Apply AWS and GCP expertise to build reliable cloud infrastructure.
• Implement observability strategy and tooling; develop dashboards.
• Champion SLOs and error budgets to prioritize reliability work.
• Act as incident commander for significant production incidents; lead troubleshooting.
• Reduce operational toil with automation and self-service tooling.
• Develop and maintain design, troubleshooting, and runbook standards.
• Apply AI-assisted development to infrastructure problems.
• Contribute to capacity planning and cost optimization.
• Mentor engineers on systems thinking and production ownership.
• Implement security best practices in infra development.
