Job summary

Downer is seeking an Strategic Communications & AI Lead to shape integrated content across internal and external channels. You will create content for human and AI audiences, ensuring discoverability by AI-enabled search and large language models.

You will lead content strategy, employee communications and digital engagement while embedding responsible AI into workflows and maintaining strong governance and brand alignment.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Business or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Extensive experience in internal communications, corporate affairs, content marketing, digital communications or related field within a complex organisational environment.
• Proven ability to translate complex information into clear communications for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver integrated content strategies, editorial plans and content calendars aligned to priorities.
• Create high-quality content across formats including executive communications, employee campaigns, thought leadership and website content.
• Lead internal communication initiatives to build engagement and alignment.
• Manage and optimise digital content across websites, social media and email marketing.
• Drive adoption of AI tools to improve content creation, personalization, quality and reuse.
• Apply SEO, AEO, GEO and DEO best practices to enhance content discoverability across AI-enabled platforms.
• Monitor performance and use analytics to improve engagement and digital experiences.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to deliver strategic communication outcomes with governance and brand alignment.
