Job summary

DuluxGroup in Melbourne is seeking an AI Data Engineer to shape how AI integrates into our data ecosystem. You’ll build scalable, high-quality data products and pipelines on our Databricks platform, collaborating with data scientists, analysts and platform engineers to deliver trusted AI-ready data assets.

You’ll focus on data quality, governance, security and performance, while advancing best-practice engineering standards and driving innovation across our data & AI initiatives in a fast-paced,

Qualifications

• Proven Data Engineer with SQL and Python development skills.
• Hands-on experience building data pipelines on Databricks or Spark.
• Exposure to ML analytics or generative AI use cases.
• Knowledge of cloud tech, data modelling, Lakehouse, CI/CD and automation.
• Strong problem solver with cross-team collaboration.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As an AI Data Engineer, you'll play a key role in shaping how AI is embedded across DuluxGroup's data ecosystem. Working within our Data & AI team, you'll build and maintain scalable, high-quality data products and pipelines that power advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI solutions. You'll collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and platform engineers to deliver reliable, AI-ready data assets on our modern Databricks platform, ensuring strong data quality, governance, security, and performance.

This is a hands-on role where you'll contribute to innovative AI initiatives, help establish best-practice engineering standards, and leverage emerging technologies to deliver business value through trusted data solutions.

What We’re Looking for:

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer working in modern cloud-based data environments, with strong SQL and Python development skills.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines using Databricks, Apache Spark, or similar modern data platforms.
• Exposure to machine learning, advanced analytics, or generative AI use cases, with an understanding of AI-ready data requirements.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies, data modelling, Lakehouse architectures, CI/CD practices, and infrastructure automation concepts.
• A strong problem solver who can work collaboratively across technical teams and translate business requirements into practical data solutions.
• A proactive, delivery-focused mindset, with a passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and building trusted, high-quality data products.
