Business AI seeks an AI Consultant to help Australian SMEs adopt AI, automation, and digital transformation to grow revenue, reduce costs, and improve capacity. You’ll lead client engagements from strategy to implementation, acting as a trusted advisor to business owners and executives.

This role emphasizes advisory work over pure engineering, guiding clients to identify high-value opportunities, prioritise ROI, and deliver practical solutions with their teams.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience managing multiple consulting or advisory accounts (15–20 clients preferred).
• Excellent communication with founders/CEOs and non-technical owners.
• Practical experience implementing AI workflows, dashboards, automations, or processes.
• Structured discovery, mapping, prioritisation, measurement, and follow-through.

About The Role

Business AI is looking for an AI Consultant to help small and mid-sized businesses use AI, automation, and digital transformation to increase revenue, reduce costs, and improve operational capacity.

This is not a pure engineering or “build it and hand it over” role. You will act as a trusted advisor, helping business owners identify the right problems, prioritise the highest-value opportunities, and implement practical solutions with their teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage 18–20 business clients through 12-month consulting programs, leading weekly or fortnightly calls with clear outcomes.
• Diagnose challenges across sales, marketing, operations, finance, customer service, and administration. Map processes to identify ways to save time, cut costs, increase sales, and improve capacity.
• Prioritise opportunities by commercial impact, not novelty. Design practical AI workflows, automations, dashboards, agents, and playbooks using ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Power Automate, GoHighLevel, and related tools.
• Guide clients through implementation without owning every task. Provide simple post-call guides and action plans for 3–5 hours of client work between sessions. Set baselines and track revenue, profit, time saved, cost reduction, adoption, and customer retention.
• Keep clients focused, manage scope, document progress, and prevent unrelated requests from derailing the program. Identify custom build needs, brief engineering clearly, and turn successful approaches into repeatable frameworks, templates, and playbooks.

About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving business problems, working closely with clients, and helping organizations adopt new technology with confidence.

You Will Ideally Have

• Demonstrated experience managing multiple consulting, advisory, or customer accounts at the same time; experience managing 15–20 clients is highly desirable.
• Strong business judgement and the ability to connect technology decisions to commercial results.
• Practical experience implementing AI workflows, automations, dashboards, agents, or process improvements.
• Excellent communication skills with founders, CEOs, and non-technical business owners.
• Ability to explain complex technology simply and coach clients through implementation.
• A structured approach to discovery, process mapping, prioritization, measurement, and follow-through.
• Comfort working across different industries and with incomplete or poorly documented processes.
• Confidence leading short, focused calls and keeping clients accountable between meetings.
• Curiosity and adaptability as AI tools and capabilities continue to change.
• Programming experience is helpful but not essential; practical consulting and implementation ability are more important.

This role is not a fit if you

• Prefer building for a small number of deep technical projects rather than managing a larger client portfolio.
• Focus on AI features without first validating the business problem or expected ROI.
• Expect to complete all implementation work yourself.
• Struggle to explain technical concepts to non-technical people.
• Have difficulty managing scope, deadlines, follow-up, or client accountability.
