Job summary
Christadelphian Aged Care in Queensland is seeking a dedicated Grounds Maintenance worker to care for gardens, lawns and outdoor spaces across the facility. You will contribute to residents’ wellbeing and quality of life by maintaining outdoor areas to a high standard.
The role involves plant care, trimming, mowing, irrigation oversight and safe operation of gardening equipment, all while supporting infection prevention and safety requirements within an aged care setting.
Qualifications
- Experience in gardening, horticulture or grounds maintenance
- Knowledge of plant care, pruning techniques and garden maintenance
- Ability to operate gardening equipment safely and effectively
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Desire to provide quality services in aged care environments
- Desirable: Certificate II/III in Horticulture
- Desirable: Experience in aged care or healthcare settings
- Desirable: Knowledge of safe chemical handling and pest management
Responsibilities
- Maintain gardens, lawns, hedges and landscaped areas across the facility
- Plant, prune, weed and mulch garden beds
- Operate and maintain gardening equipment safely
- Mow, edge and maintain lawns and pathways
- Monitor irrigation systems and watering schedules
- Remove garden waste and keep outdoor areas tidy
- Identify and report maintenance and safety issues
- Ensure outdoor areas are safe, accessible and aesthetically pleasing
- Support infection prevention and workplace health and safety requirements
