TalentBlue is seeking an experienced Industrial Spray Painter for a leading Australian heavy transport equipment manufacturer in Melbourne’s West. These long-term, temp-to-perm roles offer great pay, daytime hours, and a clear path to permanent full-time employment.

Immediate start pending checks. Salary features an afternoon shift casual rate of $56.25/hr plus 18% shift loading and super, with Monday–Friday 4PM–1AM hours and an RDO every second Monday to create regular long weekends.

Competenze

• Proven experience as an Industrial Spray Painter (trade qualification highly regarded, but solid industry experience is essential)
• Experience working on heavy transport, chassis, trailers, structural steel, or large machinery
• Strong understanding of surface prep, paint systems, and abrasive media
• High attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Full Australian working rights and reliable transport

Mansioni

• Prepare trailers, chassis, components and other fabricated steel surfaces for painting.
• Carry out surface preparation activities, including cleaning, sanding, masking, degreasing and removing contaminants.
• Mix and prepare paints, primers, hardeners and other coating materials in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
• Apply primers, undercoats and topcoats using industrial spray-painting equipment, including airless and conventional spray systems where applicable.
• Identify and rectify paint defects, including runs, overspray, uneven coverage and surface imperfections.
• Complete touch-ups and rework where required.
• Ensure finished products meet the quality standards and customer specifications.
• Inspect surfaces before and after painting to ensure they meet the required quality standards.
• Monitor coating application and paint finishes to minimise defects and rework.
• Check paint coverage, consistency and finish against production requirements.
• Identify and report any quality concerns or defects to the relevant Supervisor.
• Safely operate and maintain spray guns, pressure pots, hoses, pumps and other painting equipment.
• Clean and maintain spray painting equipment to ensure it remains in good working condition.
• Identify and report equipment faults, damage or maintenance requirements.
• Maintain spray booths, preparation areas and surrounding workspaces in a clean and organised condition.
• Ensure paints, solvents and other hazardous substances are handled, labelled and stored appropriately.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Spray Painting & Surface Preparation

• Prepare trailers, chassis, components and other fabricated steel surfaces for painting.
