Western Sydney University’s ICNS invites applications for a Full-time Fixed-Term (12 months) Engineering role at Penrith Campus. You will provide specialist engineering support to design, fabricate, integrate, test and operate fixed-wing aircraft and drone platforms for ICNS research.

You will develop airborne platforms with sensors, payloads, flight controllers and processing interfaces, conduct ground and flight testing, maintain compliant documentation, and mentor staff in manufacturing

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and training.
• Demonstrated experience designing, fabricating, assembling and operating fixed-wing aircraft and drone platforms.
• Experience using computer-aided design and manufacturing technologies to produce aircraft components and systems.
• Demonstrated capability integrating sensors, payloads, flight controllers and associated systems into airborne platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management and communication skills, with experience delivering technical projects within agreed timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, integrate and test fixed-wing aircraft and drone platforms for ICNS research.
• Develop and deploy airborne platforms with sensors, payloads and flight controllers.
• Translate project requirements into practical engineering solutions and ensure safe operations.
• Conduct ground and flight testing and maintain technical documentation.
• Provide guidance to staff on manufacturing processes.
