Job summary

Macmahon is seeking an experienced HSE professional to provide site-based health, safety and environmental support for the Nifty Copper Project in Western Australia. You will work closely with leaders and crews to ensure safe, compliant and efficient delivery of activities.

The role requires a background in surface mining, a tertiary qualification in OHS, and proficiency with HSEQ management systems. A strong focus on incident investigation, risk assessment and worker wellbeing is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous surface mining experience in a similar role.
• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Working knowledge of WA Mines Safety Inspection Act and similar legislation.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring effective implementation and compliance to the HSEQ Management Plan.
• Provide HSEQ mentorship and guidance to leaders and workers.
• Assist with accident / incident investigations and lead/lag indicators.
• Facilitate risk assessments to support operations and risk reduction.
• Maintain and review site corrective action and hazard reporting processes.
• Complete site inspections and audits per safety planner.
• Assist with injury management and return to work processes.
• Monitor mental health and refer to EAP as needed.

About the Role

Provide HSE support to our Nifty Copper Project, working closely with leaders and crews to enable safe, efficient and compliant delivery.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring effective implementation and compliance to the systems and processes outlined in the HSEQ Management Plan;
• Provide HSEQ Management Systems mentoring and guidance to leaders and workers;
• Assisting with accident / incident investigations, lead and lag indicators as required;
• Facilitating risk assessments to support operations and their ability to control and reduce risks across our activities;
• Maintaining and reviewing site corrective action and hazard reporting processes;
• Completing site inspections and audits in line with the group annual safety planner and site-based activity planners
• Assisting supervision with the injury management and return to work processes; and
• Monitoring the mental health of our people and referring them to the EAP services as needed.

What You’ll Bring

• Previous surface mining experience in a similar role, accompanied by tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety;
• Working knowledge of the Mines Safety Inspection Act (WA) and similar legislation in other states;
• Experience in HSEQ management systems and able implement HSEQ management plan deliverables;
• Qualification in incident investigation methodology, such as ICAM;
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and engagement skills;
• Senior First Aid Certificate; and
• Current Manual "C" Class WA Drivers Licence or equivalent
