Job summary

The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing in Victoria seeks a qualified practitioner to support Beginning Child Protection Practitioners, applying theory to practice with increased autonomy.

The role involves conducting risk assessments, investigations, and managing complex cases. You will present matters to the Children's Court and deliver case practice for children and young people in family or out-of-home care settings.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years' case work or similar experience in child and family social work.
• Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work visa for the role.

Key responsibilities

• Being responsible for supporting and developing Beginning Child Protection Practitioners in the integration of theory and practice while demonstrating your expertise through case practice.
• Conducting risk assessments and investigations.
• Managing complex cases, problem solving and presenting matters to the Children's Court of Victoria as required.
• Delivering case practice and case management services for children and young people who are either living with family or placed in out of home care.

What you need

• Ideally, you will have a minimum of two years' case work or similar relevant experience in child and family social work.
• Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa necessary for the nature of the position.
• Preferred candidates will have a social work, welfare, psychology related qualification and/or relevant experience.
