Job summary

Ability Connect is seeking an Administrative Support Coordinator to assist NDIS participants in coordinating their plans, identifying supports, and liaising with service providers. The role emphasizes a person-centered approach, data accuracy, and strong customer service in a disability sector setting.

The successful candidate will have experience with disability support, knowledge of NDIS processes, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in record keeping and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of 'Reasonable and Necessary' criteria and NDIS Quality & Safeguards knowledge.
  • Must pass NDIS Worker Screening Check and National Police Check.

Responsibilities

  • Support NDIS participants to build capacity to coordinate their NDIS plans, negotiate appropriate support and services, and connect with community support and mainstream services.
  • Ensure support coordination is completed as per the agreed work schedule and claims for payment are regularly lodged.
  • Identify, coordinate, manage and/ or facilitate a range of supports and support providers to meet identified needs.
  • Navigate, influence and negotiate with public sector and community-based service systems for delivery of supports in line with NDIS plans.
  • Ensure that support responses focus on participant goals and objectives.
  • Liaise with and report to NDIA regarding NDIS participants and their plans.

Administrative Support Coordinator - Ability Connect

Ability Connect is in search of a self-motivated individual, preferably with prior experience in Support Coordination, to join our friendly, experienced team. Although experience is preferred, if you have worked in similar roles, then take advantage of our comprehensive induction training, on-the-job mentoring, and support to make this progressive shift in your career. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the drive and passion to make a positive impact on the disability sector.

The Support Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring our Participants are supported to achieve their goals as identified in their NDIS plans. Applying a person-centered approach you will use your exceptional people skills, experience, and ability to think "outside of the box" to identify supports, services, and programs that will contribute to the Participant's goal achievement. This role requires a calm, resilient nature, and qualities like attention to detail with the ability to accurately record data and perform research are essential.

The Primary Job responsibilities are as follows:

Support NDIS participants to build capacity to coordinate their NDIS plans, negotiate appropriate support and services, and connect with community support and mainstream services.

Ensure support coordination is completed as per the agreed work schedule and claims for payment are regularly lodged.

Identify, coordinate, manage and or facilitate a range of supports and support providers to meet identified needs.

Navigate, influence and negotiate with public sector and community-based service systems for the delivery of appropriate supports in accordance with NDIS plans.

Ensure that support responses focus on participant goals and objectives.

Liaise with and report as required to NDIA in relation to NDIS participants and their plans.

Use local knowledge and sector expertise to increase opportunities for people with a lived experience of a mental health issue to be connected in local communities.

Build NDIS participant and family capacity to understand and navigate service systems.

Provide expert advice and consultation to NDIS participants and their families on the changing NDIS environment.

Regularly monitor expenditure and support participants to remain informed as to their rate of expenditure and the potential effects.

Deliver services and support with a high level of customer service.

Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements.

Support NDIS participants, families, and carers to develop resilience in the NDIS participant's network.

You will build capacity and implement all supports in a participant's NDIS plan, as well as report back to the NDIA on the outcome and goals as required.

About you

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate your ability to meet the selection criteria outlined below:

Experience working with people with a disability and their support networks.

Candidates with any level of experience working with people with a disability will be considered, including those with no minimum experience requirements.

Demonstrated experience in providing support using enablement and strength-based approach.

Sound understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

High level of both verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

Demonstrate a high level of computer literacy and skills.

Strong writing skills are essential

Proven experience in record keeping including an ability to maintain confidential information.

Knowledge of "Reasonable and Necessary" criteria and a working knowledge of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

Demonstrated ability to be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Be accustomed to working in an environment where meeting Key Performance Indicators form part of your role.

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and/or relevant experience within the industry.

Any tertiary level qualification from any field of study will be accepted as meeting the qualification requirements.

Current unrestricted NSW Drivers license.

Support Coordination Experience is highly preferred.

Must pass NDIS Worker Screening Check and National Police Check
