Job summary

NSW Health in Wauchope is seeking an experienced Administration Officer Level 4 - Clinical Coder to translate patient services into accurate inpatient codes. You will work with ICD-10-AM classifications and use Cerner, iPM, and 3M Codefinder to deliver high-quality coding outcomes.

You will review medical records, liaise with clinicians, and ensure coding integrity within the health information team, contributing to funding and reporting accuracy. Experience with DRGs and ABF is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Qualified Clinical Coder with HIMAA standards.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.

Administration Officer Level 4 - Clinical Coder - Wauchope

Employment with Mid North Coast LHD requires candidates to hold a valid authority to work in Australia (Aust Work Rights Visa).

What you'll be doing
To accurately translate the type and acuity of patient services by the accurate and timely coding of inpatient episodes of care.

About You
You are a motivated and detail-focused Clinical Coder with recognised qualifications and competencies aligned with the HIMAA Clinical Coder National Competency Standards. With a strong foundation in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, you possess the knowledge and technical expertise required to accurately interpret clinical documentation and assign codes in accordance with Australian Coding Standards and the current ICD-10-AM classification system.

You have proven experience working within healthcare environments, utilising Patient Administration Systems such as Cerner and iPM, along with 3M Codefinder and other coding resources to deliver high-quality coding outcomes. Your sound understanding of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs) and Activity Based Funding enables you to appreciate the broader impact of accurate coding on healthcare reporting, funding, and service planning.

Known for your strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, you are confident reviewing complex medical records, identifying documentation discrepancies, and liaising professionally with clinicians to ensure coding accuracy and completeness. Your excellent communication skills allow you to build effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams while contributing to the integrity of clinical information.

Highly organised and self-directed, you are able to prioritise workloads, meet productivity targets, and consistently deliver accurate results within required timeframes. Equally comfortable working independently or collaboratively, you bring a professional approach, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting excellence in health information management and clinical coding practices.
