Job summary

Pacific Life Re is seeking a Manager, Actuarial Analytics & Insights, Protection, to lead and shape the in-force Protection portfolio’s actuarial analytics. You will coordinate with CA, DBS and LoBs to ensure robust reporting, modelling, and governance across US GAAP, IFRS17, LAGIC, and EC baselines.

You will manage a small team, drive continuous improvement, and oversee validation of results, with a focus on accurate financial reporting and strategic actuarial insights for the Australia entity.

Qualifications

• Qualified actuary with minimum 5 years’ experience in life insurance or life reinsurance.
• Experience with IFRS17 and LAGIC; preferably with US GAAP.
• Proven track record in challenging/improving processes and leading teams.

Responsibilities

• Interpret, analyse and summarise actuarial model outputs across all statutory bases for Financial Reporting and Business Plan.
• Support capital management processes for the Pacific Life Re Australia entity, including annual calibration of internal target surplus and key actuarial reports (ICAAP, AVR, FCR).
• Develop actuarial methodology across all reporting bases, including for new deals or changes to structures (retrocession).
• Produce controls and validation reports to ensure completeness and accuracy of actuarial results.
• Oversee and review results from other members of the Australia AA&I function; provide guidance.
• Maintain close working relationships with CA teams and DBS functions.
• Support financial impact analysis of changes to actuarial assumptions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and Project Unify deliverables.
• Specify model requirements for new developments and testing of results.
