About The Team

In practice, that means sharing ownership, solving complex problems together and staying connected to the customer context, the purpose behind the work and how each role contributes to meaningful outcomes.

We deliver secure, resilient and innovative technology services that enable Defence enterprise and warfighting capabilities across multiple classified domains and networks. We provide world-class ICT operations and agile digital modernisation using advanced analytics, automation, hybrid cloud, DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code, cybersecurity and AI to optimise highly complex, mission-critical environments.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Active Directory Engineer to support the implementation, administration, security, and ongoing optimisation of enterprise identity and directory services. This role plays a critical part in protecting enterprise identity platforms, enabling secure access, maintaining service resilience, and reducing operational and security risk across the organisation.

Working closely with infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, application, and service management teams, you will provide technical expertise across Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, authentication, access controls, certificate services, and hybrid identity to deliver secure, reliable, and highly available identity services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, secure, and maintain enterprise Active Directory environments, including domains, forests, trusts, replication, domain controllers, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and authentication services.
  • Support hybrid identity services, including Microsoft Entra ID integration, synchronisation technologies, cloud identity initiatives, and authentication solutions.
  • Monitor platform health, performance, security, backup, disaster recovery, and operational resilience of Active Directory and related services.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell automation, technical documentation, operational procedures, and engineering standards to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Partner with cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, and application teams to identify and remediate identity risks, support incident investigations, and contribute to modernisation initiatives.
About You

We are looking for someone who brings judgement, curiosity and a collaborative approach to work that matters.

Skills & Experience
  • Strong experience administering enterprise Active Directory environments, including AD DS, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Windows authentication, domains, forests, trusts, replication, and domain controllers.
  • Demonstrated PowerShell scripting and automation capability, with experience supporting operational efficiency and identity-management processes.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Entra ID, hybrid identity integration, Active Directory Certificate Services, and Windows Server platforms.
  • Strong understanding of identity security, privileged access management, disaster recovery, operational resilience, and Microsoft security best practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills, with the ability to lead complex investigations and collaborate across technical teams.

This role requires the successful applicant to be an Australian citizen and hold, or be eligible to obtain, NV-1 security clearance.

Commitment to Non-Discrimination

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to sex, race, ethnicity, age, national origin, citizenship, religion, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, family structure, marital status, ancestry, domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran or military status, or any other basis prohibited by law.
