Job summary

Leidos Australia seeks a Senior Windows Engineer to maintain and evolve enterprise Windows infrastructure across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.   • Experience administering enterprise-scale Windows environments, including server lifecycle management, patching, certificates, permissions, and configuration management.
  • Advanced PowerShell automation and scripting skills for operational efficiency.
  • Experience with Windows security hardening, vulnerability remediation, access management, and compliance controls.
  • Experience supporting high-availability environments, disaster recovery readiness, backup and monitoring.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and evolving critical enterprise Windows infrastructure that underpins business operations and customer services. As a Senior Windows Engineer, you will work across modern on‑premises and hybrid cloud environments, partnering with infrastructure, security, network, architecture, and application teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable technology services.

  • Lead the administration, optimisation, and continuous improvement of enterprise Windows Server environments, ensuring high levels of availability, performance, resilience, and operational supportability.
  • Contribute to the delivery of infrastructure modernisation, cloud adoption, automation, and technology refresh initiatives, helping to reduce operational complexity and improve service outcomes across the organisation.
  • Drive security and compliance outcomes through system hardening, vulnerability remediation, patch management, identity and access controls, and the implementation of operational best practices.
  • Provide senior technical expertise for complex incidents, root‑cause analysis, and infrastructure challenges while mentoring engineers and sharing knowledge across multidisciplinary technology teams.
About You

You are an experienced infrastructure professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and improving the reliability, security, and efficiency of enterprise platforms. You bring a collaborative approach to working with a diverse range of stakeholders and are motivated by delivering practical technology outcomes in large‑scale environments.

Essential
  • Significant experience in Windows Server engineering, systems administration, or enterprise infrastructure operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory Domain Services, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and authentication services.
  • Experience administering enterprise‑scale Windows environments, including server lifecycle management, patching, certificates, permissions, and configuration management.
  • Advanced capability in PowerShell automation and scripting, with experience improving operational efficiency through automation and repeatable processes.
  • Experience with Windows security hardening, vulnerability remediation, access management, compliance controls, and operational risk management.
  • Experience supporting high‑availability environments, disaster recovery readiness, backup and recovery solutions, and performance monitoring.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, networking, application hosting, and operating system issues across multiple technology domains.
  • Well‑developed communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across infrastructure, cybersecurity, architecture, service management, and delivery teams.
Advantageous
  • Experience supporting Windows workloads within hybrid and cloud‑based environments.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including Azure Virtual Machines, networking, storage, identity services, Azure Monitor, and Log Analytics.
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID and hybrid identity solutions.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, ARM/Bicep, Ansible, or Azure Automation.
  • Experience with Microsoft IIS, enterprise application hosting, SCCM/Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, and modern observability platforms.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical standards, documentation, and knowledge‑sharing initiatives.

This role requires the successful applicant to hold a NV-1 Security Clearance.
