Job summary

Leidos Australia is seeking a Linux Administrator to join the AGO GEO SPACES program and support mission-critical Linux infrastructure. You will work with seasoned engineers in a secure environment to maintain reliability and drive automation.

Responsibilities include Level 2/3 support, managing virtualization, and automating configurations with Ansible, Puppet, or Chef while enforcing security controls and compliance across enterprise systems.

Qualifications

  • Experience administering enterprise Linux environments across distributions (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu/SUSE).
  • Capability in managing user access, authentication and LDAP-based directory services (OpenLDAP).
  • Experience with configuration management/automation tools: Ansible, Puppet or Chef.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware ESXi/vSphere, KVM).
  • Experience providing Level 2 or Level 3 support and troubleshooting complex infra issues.
  • Experience implementing security controls, system hardening and operational compliance.
  • Scripting/automation using Bash, Python, or Perl.

  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support across enterprise Linux environments, ensuring availability and reliability of systems.
  • Administer and maintain virtualised and physical infrastructure, including VMware ESXi/vSphere and KVM.
  • Develop, automate and standardise system configurations with Ansible, Puppet or Chef for efficiency and compliance.
  • Support security and access management through authentication services and automation of routine tasks.

The Opportunity

Join Leidos Australia’s AGO GEO SPACES program and contribute to the delivery of advanced national security capabilities in a highly secure, mission-critical environment. As a Linux Administrator, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the Linux infrastructure that supports essential operational outcomes, working alongside experienced engineers and technology specialists.

  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support across enterprise Linux environments, ensuring the availability, performance and reliability of critical systems and services.
  • Administer and maintain virtualised and physical infrastructure, including VMware, KVM, HP OneView and GreenLake platforms, while supporting ongoing system optimisation and lifecycle activities.
  • Develop, automate and standardise system configurations using tools such as Ansible, Puppet and Chef, with a focus on operational efficiency, consistency and compliance.
  • Support security and access management requirements through the administration of authentication services, implementation of security controls and automation of routine administration tasks using scripting technologies.
About You

You are a Linux systems professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and working within a secure, high-assurance environment. You bring experience across enterprise infrastructure technologies and are committed to maintaining stable, secure and well-managed platforms that enable critical business and operational outcomes.

Essential
  • Experience administering enterprise Linux environments, including distributions such as RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu and SUSE.
  • Capability in managing user access, authentication and directory services, including LDAP-based solutions such as OpenLDAP.
  • Experience with configuration management and automation tools including Ansible, Puppet or Chef.
  • Knowledge of virtualisation technologies, including VMware ESXi/vSphere, KVM or similar platforms.
  • Experience providing Level 2 and/or Level 3 support, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining security controls, system hardening practices and operational compliance requirements.
  • Capability in scripting and automation using Bash, Python, Perl or similar technologies.
Advantageous
  • Experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical or highly regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with Kickstart or similar operating system deployment and Standard Operating Environment (SOE) management practices.
  • Exposure to HP OneView, GreenLake or comparable enterprise infrastructure management platforms.

Due to the nature of this role, you must be an Australian Citizen and hold an active TSPV security clearance, with the ability to be successful for a DISA/OSA.
