Job summary

Austek Roads (ACT) are seeking an experienced ACT Operations Manager to join our team based in Hume, ACT. The ACT Operations Manager is responsible for the management of delegated operational aspects of contract works ensuring the day-to-day operations run efficiently, align with the Austek business goals and provide leadership in HSEQ for asphalt and seal activities.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Business, Asphalt, Road Building or similar.
• Current Drivers Licence.
• Demonstrated ability to proactively build relationships with key stakeholders and teams.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Project Management fundamentals knowledge (PMBOK).
• Computer literacy with MS Office and ERP systems.
• Knowledge of local laws for transporting equipment.
• Understanding and handling of paving equipment and project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day activities of work crews and ensure good practice standards.
• Ensure project objectives are delivered on time, within scope and budget.
• Control costs and support profitability.
• Coordinate across departments to keep operations running smoothly.
• Manage labour, materials and equipment costs.
• Provide production and logistics insights to bids.
• Carry out Health & Safety / Environmental reporting requirements.
• Plan future works (scoping).
• Coordinate onsite staff and resources.

The ACT Operations Manager is responsible for the management of delegated operational aspects of contract works ensuring the day-to-day operations run efficiently, effectively and align with the Austek business goals. This includes taking a leadership role in respect of HSEQ and the management of all asphalt and seal activities.

• Manage day to day activities of work crews. Ensuring that good practice standards are implemented.
• Ensure that project objectives are delivered within agreed time, scope and budget constraints.
• Control costs and support profitability
• Coordinate across departments to keep operations running smoothly
• Manage labour, materials and equipment costs
• Support bids with accurate production and logistic insights
• Carry out all Health & Safety / Environmental reporting requirements
• Carry out future planning works (scoping)
• Coordinating of all onsite staff, internal and external resources
• Managing project progress and adapt work as required
• Ensuring project deadlines are met
• Conducting project reviews (Quality), and generating detailed completion reports
• Securing growth opportunities and initiating new projects
• Ensuring all plant & Equipment check sheets are completed and submitted in a timely manner
• Managing large and diverse teams
• Provide advice to technical staff on operation techniques, procedures and processes.
• Co-ordinate and carry out workplace inspections and team communications

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Tertiary qualification – Business, Asphalt, Road Building or similar

Current Drivers Licence

Demonstrated ability in proactively building relationships with key stakeholders / team members

Ability to work within a team.

Project Management fundamental knowledge, [PMBOK].

Computer literacy, particularly experience working with Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems.

Knowledge of local laws for transporting of equipment
