Job summary

Austek Roads (ACT) in Canberra is seeking an experienced Asphalt Supervisor to lead a paving crew on our ACT project sites. The role focuses on safe, efficient asphalt laying to high quality standards, with a hands-on approach to coordinating plant, deliveries and personnel to meet daily targets.

The ideal candidate will manage toolbox talks, monitor performance, ensure WHS compliance and oversee temperature control, compaction and traffic interfaces.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising asphalt paving crews.
• Ability to coordinate deliveries and plant operations.
• Must comply with WHS legislation.
• Willingness to work night shifts and weekends.
• Physical ability to work in high temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct daily activities of the paving crew.
• Coordinate the daily arrival of asphalt trucks and logistics.
• Conduct morning Toolbox Talks and Pre-Start meetings.
• Monitor crew performance, fatigue, and adherence to the schedule.
• Perform direct site measurements and calculate tonnage for upcoming shifts.
• Oversee set-up of paver and ensure correct depths and crossfalls.
