ThompsonCook in Melbourne CBD is seeking an Accounts Specialist to lead daily AR and cash management within a growing infrastructure group. The role collaborates with customers, internal stakeholders and banking partners to own cash receipting, reconciliations and month-end reporting.

With 5+ years in AR or Bookkeeping, you will contribute to a high-performing Finance team and play a pivotal role in shaping processes while enjoying hybrid work flexibility in a Melbourne-based role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience across Accounts Receivable or Bookkeeping roles.
• Strong experience with bank reconciliations, debtor management and collections.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with customers and stakeholders.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a desire to improve processes.

Responsibilities

• Managing daily bank reconciliations across Australian and New Zealand accounts.
• Reconciling incoming receipts and outgoing payments across the group.
• Investigating and resolving banking discrepancies.
• Managing the AR inbox and responding to customer and internal queries.
• Managing debtor ledgers, collections and overdue accounts.
• Processing customer credit notes and write-offs.
• Preparing month-end AR and doubtful debt reconciliations.
• Preparing debtor analysis, ageing reports and ad-hoc AR reporting.
• Supporting process improvements and mentoring junior team members.

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity to join a leading infrastructure group at a critical point of growth and transformation. With continued investment across its Australian operations, the business is looking for an experienced Accounts Specialist to join its high-performing Finance team.

This is a broad, hands-on role responsible for the effective management of accounts receivable and cash management across the group. Working closely with customers, internal stakeholders and banking partners, you will take ownership of daily cash receipting, bank reconciliations, debtor management and month-end reporting.
