Job summary

Clark Wood is seeking an ambitious Accounts Director to join its senior leadership team in Brighton. You will lead a high-value client portfolio, deliver expert accounting and advisory services, and drive business development to grow client relationships and firm revenue.

The role requires ACA/ACCA or equivalent, 7–10 years in UK practice, and a proven track record in client management and team leadership, with a strong focus on profitability and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Leading a portfolio of complex, high-value clients, delivering excellent accounting and advisory services.
• Building strong client relationships and identifying opportunities to grow existing accounts.
• Proactively pursuing new business, attending networking events, pitching for work and converting opportunities into new clients.
• Working with Partners on business development strategy, proposals, tenders and pricing.
• Leading, mentoring and developing Managers and wider Accounts teams.
• Reviewing and signing off complex statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP, FRS 102 and relevant regulations.
• Managing portfolio profitability, WIP, fee recovery and billing.
• Driving service line development, operational improvements and high standards of quality and risk management.

Clark Wood is working with a leading accountancy practice in Brighton to recruit an ambitious and commercially driven Accounts Director to join its senior leadership team.

The firm have an excellent reputation across Brighton and West Sussex and this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice professional who combines strong technical expertise with a genuine passion for business development, building client relationships and winning new business.

Working closely with the Partners, you will lead a high-value client portfolio, develop talented teams and play a key role in driving growth across the Brighton office.

About You

• Commercial awareness and experience managing fees and portfolio profitability.
