Based in Chatswood, Sydney, we focus on property investment and development across New South Wales, with a growing portfolio of residential, commercial and land-development projects.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant / AP & AR to join our team.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their career in finance while gaining practical exposure to the property development and investment industry. Working closely with senior management and the finance team, you will be involved in day-to-day accounting support, payments, reconciliations, financial administration and project-related financial activities.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is organised, numerically confident and willing to learn. You will work closely with our finance team and wider project team, providing support across accounts payable, banking, payments, reporting and general financial administration.
Experience in property, construction or real estate will be highly regarded, although it is not essential.
What you’ll be doing
- Review, process and code supplier invoices and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate invoice approvals and assist with weekly payment processing.
- Prepare and process supplier and other business payments in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist with bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
- Manage and reconcile petty cash and staff expense claims.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as required.
- Maintain accurate spreadsheets, financial records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of weekly and monthly financial reports.
- Support project-related financial administration, including tracking project expenses and invoices.
- Assist with budgeting, cash flow monitoring and general financial reporting.
- Liaise with suppliers, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders regarding invoices, payments and account queries.
- Assist with maintaining accurate records for property development and investment projects.
- Provide general finance and administrative support to the business.
- Assist with document management, filing and maintaining financial records.
- Support the finance team with other accounting and administrative tasks as required.
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Administrator, Accounts Officer, Bookkeeper or similar role.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, accounts payable and bank reconciliations.
- Experience with Xero or other accounting software would be advantageous.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Highly organised with good time management and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Reliable, responsible and comfortable handling financial information and payment processes.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, suppliers and external stakeholders.
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
- Previous experience in property development, construction, real estate or professional services will be highly regarded.
- Relevant qualification (CPA and CA preferred) or studies in Accounting would be advantageous.
