Job summary

Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy & Fertilisers (WesCEF) is seeking an experienced Accounting Lead to join the Finance team in Perth. You will provide timely and insightful financial information to support strategic decision making and act as a trusted adviser to the Minerals business, including senior leaders and executive stakeholders.

You will drive key reporting, planning, technical accounting and compliance activities, and champion automation initiatives to improve accuracy and speed.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• Membership of CAANZ, CPA Australia, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, accurate financial and non-financial reporting for WesCEF Minerals.
• Partner with senior leaders to provide strategic financial insight and support investment and growth decisions.
• Lead management reporting, forecasting, budgeting and long-term planning activities.
• Provide technical accounting advice for complex and non-routine transactions.
• Maintain governance and reporting for joint ventures and partnerships.
• Drive automation and process improvements using AI, analytics and digital tools.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Lead to join our Finance team, partnering with the Minerals business.

Reporting to the divisions Finance Manager, you will play a crucial role in providing timely, accurate and insightful financial and non-financial information to support strategic decision making. As a trusted adviser to the Minerals business, you will partner with senior leaders and the commercial team, support investment and growth decisions, and provide financial insights and recommendations to executive stakeholders, including the WesCEF Managing Director, CFO and COO.

You will lead key reporting, planning, technical accounting and compliance activities for WesCEF Minerals, while driving improvements in finance processes, systems and reporting capability.

Some key responsibilities include:

• Delivering high-quality, accurate and insightful financial and non-financial reporting to support informed business decisions.
• Partnering with senior leaders to provide strategic financial insight and support investment, growth and commercial decision-making.
• Leading management and financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting and long-term planning activities.
• Providing technical accounting advice and support the assessment of complex and non-routine business transactions.
• Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, joint venture partners and key external parties.
• Maintaining accounting oversight of joint ventures and partnership arrangements, including associated governance and reporting requirements.
• Ensuring strong governance, financial controls and compliance with accounting, regulatory and reporting obligations.
• Drive automation and process optimisation initiatives through AI, analytics, and digital tools to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and accelerate reporting and planning cycles.
• Coaching and supporting your team, fostering commercial acumen and professional development.
• Championing a safe, collaborative and high-performing work environment.

About You

• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Membership of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), CPA Australia, or equivalent.
• Experience within mining, resources and/or chemical processing environments is preferred.
• Strong technical accounting skills and experience applying accounting standards in a complex business environment.
• A collaborative and influencing style, with a genuine interest in supporting, coaching and developing others.
• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance detail with the bigger picture.
• Exposure to SAP, financial systems, automation and process improvement initiatives is desirable.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
• Commercially minded, curious and open to innovation and continuous improvement.
• Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to work through change and navigate complexity.
