Job summary

Metal Recovery Industries in Queensland is seeking an experienced Accountant (General) to join their professional team and manage the finance function, including the general ledger and balance sheet reviews. You will help create budgets, accounting policies, and forecasting, and prepare financial statements, reports, and tax returns for internal and external customers.

The role also requires management reporting to boards and directors.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of the overall finance function including general ledger and balance sheet review
• Assist with budgeting, accounting policies and forecasting activities
• Prepare financial statements, reports and tax returns for internal and external customers
• Prepare management reports for boards of directors, management and shareholders
• Review operating costs against budgetary plans
• Ensure accuracy of financial reports and statutory compliance
• Perform due diligence on matters such as acquisitions, financing, fraud, insolvency and taxation
• Oversee day-to-day client relationships and liaising with team leaders and directors as required
• Reconciling bank statements and general ledgers
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Participate in annual internal and external audits
• Contribute to ad hoc finance administration projects as required

Job Description

Our valued client Metal Recovery Industries based in Qld, is seeking an experienced Accountant (General) to join their friendly team of professionals. The Company collects, salvages, and processes scrap metal goods for recycle and re use in regional and remote areas in Central North Queensland, including mining sites. The role includes but is not limited to:

• Provide oversight of the over-all finance function including taking responsibility for the general ledger and balance sheet reviews
• Provide assistance and contribute in creating budgetary, accounting policies and forecasting activities
• Prepare financial statements, reports, and tax returns for internal and external customers
• Prepare management reports on a regular basis for presentation to boards of directors, management, and shareholders
• Review operating costs, income, and expenditure making sure it is within the company’s budgetary plans and means
• Ensure the accuracy of information contained in financial reports and its compliance with statutory requirements
• Perform due diligence when advising on matters such as purchase and sale of business, mergers, capital financing, suspected fraud, insolvency and taxation
• Ensure the accuracy of information contained in financial reports and its compliance with statutory requirements
• Manage the day-to-day relationship with clients and liaising with team leaders and directors as and when required
• Reconciling bank statements and general ledgers
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Participate in the annual internal and external auditing processes to ensure that appropriate systems are in place and maintained
• Ad hoc finance administration projects as required by the Financial Controller or CFO

To be considered for this role you must have:

• At least 5 years’ work experience in the same field
• Knowledge in various accounting software is highly desirable
