Job summary

Aurora Accounting Pty Ltd in Sydney CBD NSW is seeking an Accountant to join our Financial Reporting and Business Services team. You will prepare financial statements, budgets, and commentary to support client planning and decision-making.

The role focuses on statutory reporting for corporate clients, cash flow management, and developing budgets with client managers. CPA/CA progression and Excel/Xero proficiency are highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports for corporate clients.
• Preparing and reviewing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow statements and supporting workpapers.
• Developing budgets, cash flow forecasts and financial projections in consultation with clients and client managers.
• Monitoring actual results against budgets and forecasts, investigating variances and preparing commentary on business performance.
• Analyzing revenue, operating costs, margins and working capital to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Completing month-end and year-end procedures, including account reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, depreciation and adjusting journals.
• Reconciling intercompany accounts and assisting with group financial reporting schedules.
• Maintaining fixed asset registers and reviewing the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Assisting with the development and improvement of accounting systems, financial reporting processes and internal controls.
• Liaising with clients, external auditors and other stakeholders to resolve accounting queries and meet reporting deadlines.

You will work with client managers and corporate clients to prepare financial reports, monitor cash flow and develop budgets that support business planning and decision-making.

Key responsibilities

About you

A bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline.

1–2 years of relevant experience in a CPA or CA public practice accounting firm.

A sound understanding of accounting principles and Australian Accounting Standards.

Experience preparing financial statements, management reports and account reconciliations.

An understanding of budgeting, cash flow forecasting and financial analysis.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as Xero.

Strong attention to detail, analytical skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly.

Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.

A professional, client-focused approach and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Commencement of, or progress towards, the CPA or CA qualification will be highly regarded.
