Job summary

Bankstown Sports Club is seeking a proactive Accountant to join our Finance team at Bankstown, NSW. The role focuses on revenue recognition, bank reconciliations and month-end close within a vibrant hospitality and entertainment group.

You will work across departments to ensure accurate financial records and reporting standards are maintained. The successful candidate will have tertiary accounting qualifications, 2–3 years’ experience, strong reconciliation and Excel skills, and a practical

  • CPA or CA qualification (or currently working towards) highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Managing revenue recognition processes for internal and external tenants, including billing and reconciliations.
  • Processing and reconciling event invoicing, deposits and balance sheet accounts.
  • Preparing and reconciling daily cash, EFTPOS and gaming transactions.
  • Assisting with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparing financial reports and providing commentary where required.

We are currently seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accountant to join our close-knit Finance team and contribute to the ongoing success of one of Australia's leading hospitality and entertainment organisations.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Accountant will play an important role in supporting the Group's financial reporting and month-end processes while ensuring accurate financial records, compliance and reporting standards are maintained.

This position offers exposure to a diverse and complex business environment, where no two days are the same. You will work collaboratively across multiple departments and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance business performance and financial processes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing revenue recognition processes for both internal and external tenants, including billing, reimbursements, payment receipts and account reconciliations
  • Processing and reconciling event invoicing, deposits and associated balance sheet accounts
  • Preparing and reconciling daily cash, EFTPOS and gaming transactions
  • Completing bank reconciliations and monitoring daily cash movements
  • Processing month-end accruals, adjustments and journal entries
  • Preparing and maintaining monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assisting with the preparation and review of financial reports and providing commentary where required
  • Monitoring and allocating customer receipts across various revenue streams
  • Supporting debtor management and aged receivables processes
  • Preparing BAS statements and supporting tax compliance requirements
  • Processing merchant receipts and refunds
  • Assisting with audit preparation and overall financial compliance activities
  • Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and month-end reporting efficiencies
  • Providing support across the Finance Team on various projects and ad hoc tasks
About You

You are a motivated accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working collaboratively with stakeholders across the business. You have excellent attention to detail and a genuine commitment to continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline
  • CPA or CA qualification (or currently working towards completion) highly regarded
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in an Accountant or similar Finance role
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting and relevant accounting standards
  • Strong reconciliation experience and high-level numerical skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems
  • Experience supporting month-end close processes and financial reporting activities
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy under pressure
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritise competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
