Job summary

Octagon is seeking an Account Executive to support client service and event-driven marketing within the sports and entertainment space. You will help manage communications, coordinate projects, and assist with campaigns, activations, and events.

The role requires 0-2 years of relevant experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and a passion for learning in a fast-paced team. Some travel and weekend work may be required to support events.

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in agency/client service, event marketing or sports marketing.
  • Understanding and passion for creativity and ideas that earn attention.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Publisher).
  • Willingness to travel and work weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Become a trusted resource for clients, coordinating communication between internal and external partners.
  • Develop knowledge of the client portfolio and business initiatives.
  • Provide project management support: coordinating team diaries, WIP meetings, contact reports, and timelines.
  • Assist with event planning, guest communication, ticket management, compliance, activation, and post-event wrap-up.
  • Support account teams in delivering campaigns, activations and events.
  • Manage assets for client objectives and oversee program expenses and internal admin & finance processes.
  • Co-coordinate projects with vendors and internal resources (merchandise, digital, creative).
  • Assist with the online system to upload assets, track, manage and fulfill event orders/tickets.
  • Participate in brainstorming and status meetings; prepare agendas and recap summaries.
  • Prepare sell-in presentations, event guides, reports, and SOPs.
  • Work on-ground at events/activations when scheduled (weekends, day/evenings).
  • Engage in inter-agency activities to champion culture.

THE JOB / Role Title

The Account Executive (AE) role is pivotal within both their account team and the broader client services department, where they'll oversee the administrative and operational aspects of accounts. Building enduring relationships with clients, suppliers, and agency partners and consistently delivering excellence are key responsibilities. Close collaboration with Account Managers and Account Directors ensures the successful delivery of all project work.

The ideal candidate for the AE position is dynamic, deeply invested in culture, and adept at multitasking across multiple projects. They are encouraged to bring their unique skills to the role, demonstrate a passion for learning, and display a strong commitment to completing tasks effectively. The AE's approach to client service is characterised by its energy and willingness to question established norms in pursuit of improved solutions. While professional client communication is a must, AEs are not expected to "manage" or "own" client relationships. THE WORK YOU'LL DO
Client Relationship Development:
  • Become a trusted resource for clients, effectively facilitating communication between all internal and external partners
  • Develop a knowledge and understanding of the client's portfolio and business initiatives
Account and Program Leadership and Delivery:
  • Provide project management support coordinating team & client diaries, WIP meetings, contact reports, timelines to ensure delivery
  • Assist with event planning, guest communication, ticket management, compliance systems, onsite activation, and post-event wrap-up for various programs
  • Support account teams in the delivery of attention-grabbing campaigns / activations / events
  • Assist with the management of all assets that are used to fulfill a wide range of client business objectives and manage program expenses and internal admin & finance processes
  • Co-coordinate projects with outside vendors & suppliers and internal resources, such as merchandise, digital and creative
  • Help with the management of the online system used to upload assets, track, manage and fulfil orders or ticketing requests at events
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and regular status meetings by creating agendas, updating WIP reports, participating in the discussion and providing recap summaries
  • Prepare necessary documents including guidelines, sell in presentations, presentation & pre-event materials, post-project recaps, competitor & market reports, research reports, event guides, workplans, asset trackers, itineraries, agendas, meeting notes, calendars, SOPs, etc.
  • Ability to work on ground at event & activations when scheduled (please note this could be weekends, day / evenings)
Growing Agency Expertise:
  • Engage in inter-agency activities, ensuring the role of culture is championed
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Knowledge and Experience:

0-2 years of relevant experience in agency/client service, event marketing, and/or sports marketing, and a passion for working with sports & entertainment properties, leagues, teams, gaming, music and/or celebrity & lifestyle culture. Proven track record or study in marketing or advertising will be highly valued. But we're keen on diversity of experience, so happy to consider non-marketing backgrounds.

At a minimum an understanding and passion for creativity and ideas which earn attention is a must!

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Publisher)

Skills:
  • Excellent organisational skills, acute attention to detail, and ability to manage tasks simultaneously and multitask shifting priorities
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, and have the ability to communicate with clients independently
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, and analyse significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • You demonstrate persistence to make sure the client's questions and reports are delivered in a timely and thorough manner
