Job summary

Uniting NSW & ACT is seeking an Accommodation Coordinator to lead a team of Youth Development Coaches in a Sydney-based role. You will mentor staff, support young people to sustain tenancy, and collaborate with St George Community Housing and other providers to address tenancy matters and education.

The position focuses on community engagement, crisis response, and compliant administration. A strong trauma-informed, strengths-based approach is essential, with relevant qualifications and checks

Qualifications

• Two years of leadership experience with staff supervision.
• Strong networking and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Understanding of challenges faced by young people leaving care.
• Experience in strengths-based, trauma-informed framework.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills, rostering and documentation.
• Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences or related field.
• Current NSW Driver's Licence, WWCC and National Police Check.

Job description

This is a permanent fulltime (35 hours / week) opportunity based in Chippendale

As the Accommodation Coordinator, you will play a vital leadership role, mentoring and supervising a team of Youth Development Coaches (YDCs) while ensuring young people are supported to maintain their tenancy and actively engage in the program. You will work closely with housing providers, including St George Community Housing, to address tenancy issues, arrears management, and tenancy education. You will also be a key community connector, building strong relationships with local housing providers, community services, and specialist support programs.

About Foyer

Foyer Central is an innovative, evidence-based program supporting young people aged 18-22 with a lived experience of out-of-home care. Located in the heart of Sydney, Foyer Central provides 53 studio apartments and a safe, supportive environment where young people can build their independence through education, employment, and personal development.

About you in the role

• Lead & Mentor a Team: Provide supervision, coaching, and professional development to a team of Youth Development Coaches who directly support young people.
• Support Young People’s Independence: Assist young people to engage in the program, manage their tenancy, and develop life skills for independent living.
• Housing & Tenancy Support: Liaise with St George Community Housing on tenancy matters, arrears reports, and room checks, while ensuring a proactive approach to tenancy education.
• Crisis & Incident Response: Support young people in critical incidents and participate in the on-call roster every 4-6 weeks.
• Community Engagement & Networking: Build partnerships with housing providers, real estate agents, community organisations, and specialist services to enhance opportunities for young people.
• Administration & Compliance: Oversee documentation, participate in audits (case file reviews), and manage rostering for YDCs.

About You

We are looking for a strong leader and relationship builder who is committed to empowering young people. You will bring:

• At least two years of leadership experience, including staff supervision and coaching young people towards independent living.
• Strong networking and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with housing providers, community organisations, and support services.
• A deep understanding of the challenges faced by young people leaving care.
• Experience working within a strengths-based, trauma-informed framework, with a commitment to Advantaged Thinking (or a willingness to learn).
• Excellent organisational and communication skills, including experience with rostering, case documentation, and tenancy management.
• Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences, Community Services, or a related field.
• Current NSW Drivers Licence, Working with Children Check (WWCC), and National Police Check.
