Job summary

Anglicare North Queensland Limited is seeking a Coordinator for its 24/7 gender-specific crisis youth accommodation services in Cairns. In this role, you will provide oversight and coordination to ensure effective case management and a nurturing environment for clients aged 16-25.

Your responsibilities will include staff supervision, budget management, and participation in the on-call roster. A strong background in community services and youth case management is essential, with a commitment to supporting young people in developing life skills and accessing opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Services / Social Sciences or relevant discipline.
  • Substantial case management experience with young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience working with First Nations people, families, organisations, and communities.

Job description

As a Coordinator, you will provide day-to-day oversight and coordination of one of two 24/7 gender specific crisis Youth Accommodation Services (St Margarets and St Johns) for young people aged 16‑25. You will provide effective case management oversight, ensure staff undertake required case work tasks, support the development of life‑skills, and maintain a safe, nurturing and welcoming accommodation facility. Your team will assist clients to stabilise, resolve challenges, connect with family and community supports and access housing, education, training and or job opportunities. You will lead by example, foster a collaborative team approach, provide staff supervision and support, coordinate rosters, operate within budget, meet child safe and quality practice standards, participate in the 24/7 on‑call roster and maintain productive referral pathways and networks.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Services / Social Sciences or related discipline. A Diploma or Certificate level qualification may be considered if combined with at least five (5) years relevant experience.
  • Substantial case management experience with young people/young adults from diverse cultural backgrounds dealing with disconnection from family, homelessness, alcohol and other drug issues, disrupted education and or unemployment.
  • Prior staff supervision, service coordination and rostering experience, combined with developed knowledge of service system and referral pathways; child safe practices and service standards (preferably in a 24/7 environment).
  • Knowledge of youth homelessness and models that support young people and young adults to develop independent living, relational and tenancy skills and to re‑engage with family (if a safe option), education, training and job pathways.
  • Track record of strong teamwork, risk management, responding effectively to crisis situations and incident reporting.
  • Experience working with First Nations people, families, organisations and communities.
  • Proven aptitude for administration, data analysis and reporting on client outcomes and service impact.
Compliance Requirements
  • Evidence of mandatory qualifications.
  • Satisfactory outcome of a current (less than 3 months old) National Criminal History Check.
  • Blue Card (QLD working with children card).
  • QLD drivers’ licence ‘Class C’ or interstate equivalent.
  • Ability (and willingness) to participate in a rostered (shared) 24/7 on‑call system.
  • Required to transport clients and or visit clients in their place of residence or within another out of office setting.
  • Out of hours work may be required from time to time.
  • Ability (and willingness) to undertake local area / regional travel.
  • First Aid certificate and CPR certificate.
