Job summary

Central Coast Local Health District invites an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidate to join as an Aboriginal Population Health Trainee. The three-year traineeship combines work placements with part-time study towards a Master of Public Health at a NSW university.

The role aims to build capacity within the Aboriginal workforce to develop and implement population health strategies, with rotations across the health service and structured learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and understands issues impacting Aboriginal health.
• Has a recognised undergraduate degree and/or meets MPH admission requirements at a NSW university.
• Has at least two years' experience in a health, community, education or related field.
• Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills, including report writing and stakeholder engagement.
• Can effectively manage competing priorities and work independently.
• Is committed to improving Aboriginal health outcomes and health equity.
• Has experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, and can meet mandatory employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery and evaluation of population health programs and initiatives.
• Assist in developing culturally appropriate health promotion projects for Aboriginal communities.
• Contribute to surveillance, monitoring and reporting activities that inform public health priorities.
• Prepare reports, presentations and health information for diverse audiences.
• Promote initiatives that support disease prevention and healthy communities.
• Build expertise in public health practice while completing a Master of Public Health.
