Job summary

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is seeking an Aboriginal Field Officer to support the Bushfire Management Program in the Greater Sydney area. The role involves fuel reduction, park maintenance, and heritage protection, with a Monday to Friday roster and progression through grades based on performance.

Essential requirements include Aboriginality, a current Australian class C licence (MR as needed), various safety certifications, and a willingness to travel to remote locations to deliver

Qualifications

• Aboriginality in accordance with NSW policy.
• Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain MR Licence and operate MR vehicles if required.
• Obtain a 4WD Recovery Certification within 6 months of commencement.
• First Aid certificate obtained within 6 months of commencement.
• White Card within 6 months from commencement.
• Chainsaw operation certification to level 1 crosscut within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist BMP field teams with fuel reduction and park maintenance.
• Support bushfire suppression or related response activities.
• Travel to remote locations and work as part of a team or independently.
• Lead projects as required and ensure safety standards.
