Job summary

VACCA seeks a qualified social worker for a fixed term maternity leave role in Preston, Victoria. You will manage referral intake, complete assessments and respond to immediate needs of Aboriginal clients through the Orange Door Hub, providing short‑term support and referrals as needed.

The role requires understanding of Family Violence and Child Protection sectors, experience with intake procedures, and the ability to prepare accurate reports promptly.

Qualifications

• A degree in social work (or equivalent) or willingness to work toward the qualification as required
• Full Victorian Driver’s Licence is required
• Working with Children Check is required
• National Police Check is required

Responsibilities

• Manage referral intake and conduct comprehensive assessments to identify client needs
• Respond to immediate safety concerns for Aboriginal clients and provide short‑term support
• Refer clients to appropriate agencies for ongoing support and safety planning
• Prepare accurate reports and documentation in a timely manner
• Engage with Aboriginal families and communities to ensure culturally safe services
