Job summary

The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) invites applications for a Case Worker - Family Violence in Preston. This fixed-term, full-time role supports Aboriginal families through intake, assessments, risk planning and coordinated services.

You will work to enhance safety, wellbeing and stability, with responsibilities spanning advocacy, referrals, outreach, court support and collaboration with partner agencies.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or related discipline.
  • Experience in family violence risk assessments and case management tasks.
  • Awareness of Aboriginal communities and family violence issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intake and assessment, risk assessment, safety planning and advocacy.
  • Coordinate referrals, outreach support and court-related assistance.
  • Deliver comprehensive case management and maintain case notes and planning.

About the role

The Family Violence Case Manager supports community members to increase their safety, wellbeing and stability through the delivery of comprehensive case management services. This includes intake and assessment, family violence risk assessments, safety planning, advocacy, referrals, outreach support, court support and coordination with relevant services.

About You

  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA's vision and purpose
  • Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness and the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities.
  • Proven ability to work with, engage and advocate on behalf of Aboriginal families and individuals including an awareness of family violence issues and the impacts on women, children and families.
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking family violence risk assessments and knowledge of, or willingness to learn the Family Violence Multi Agency Risk Assessment Management (MARAM) framework.
  • Proven experience in case management tasks, such as admin, assessments, referrals case planning, case notes and case closure.
  • Knowledge of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 and the MARAM framework – Multi Agency Risk Assessment Management
  • Knowledge of the CSnet data reporting system

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or a related discipline or willingness to obtain.
  • You must have and continue to hold a full Victorian Driver's Licence, a current employment Working With Children Check card and a clear National Police Check
  • Current COVID-19 vaccination – strongly recommended
