Job summary

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Primary School Waterloo invites a part-time educator to join our team. The role focuses on working with Aboriginal students to improve educational outcomes within a caring Catholic school community.

You will liaise with the Aboriginal community and school staff, building strong relationships with students and families, while contributing to an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate Aboriginal cultural awareness and respect for Aboriginal students and communities.
• Ability to maintain effective relationships between Aboriginal students, their families, and school staff.
• Ability to liaise with the principal and staff on protocols for Aboriginal engagement in education activities.
• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
• Deep knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories.

Responsibilities

• Work with Aboriginal students to improve educational outcomes.
• Maintain effective relationships between Aboriginal students, families, the school, and the broader Aboriginal community.
• Liaise with school leadership on protocols for interacting with the Aboriginal community in school activities.
• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander to support cultural alignment.
• Demonstrate deep knowledge/understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

About You

The successful applicant will work with Aboriginal students to improve the educational outcomes and continue to develop the cultural knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students. You must be able to demonstrate:

• support of Aboriginal cultural awareness for all students with particular reference to Aboriginal students
• ability to maintain effective relationships between Aboriginal students, Aboriginal parents, the Aboriginal community and school staff
• ability to liaise with the principal and school staff on protocols for interacting with the Aboriginal community in relation to staff and Aboriginal students in the school and in Aboriginal education activities.
• identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
• deep knowledge/understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
