Job summary

Centrecare is seeking a Community Service Worker Trainee to support frontline practitioners in delivering trauma-informed, culturally safe services for adults and children affected by family, domestic and sexual violence in regional Western Australia. The role emphasises Aboriginal engagement, safety planning and referrals to internal and external supports.

Qualifications

• Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status required.
• Progress toward Certificate III or higher in Community Services or related discipline.
• Experience collaborating with Aboriginal families and communities.
• Knowledge of the impact of domestic violence on Aboriginal children and families.
• Demonstrated professional boundaries and adherence.
• Current WA Drivers’ licence.
• National Police Certificate (not older than 6 months).
• Working with Children Check (or eligibility to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to safety planning and risk assessment under supervision.
• Provide practical support including advocacy, education and service navigation for clients and families.
• Support children and young people affected by family, domestic and sexual violence in culturally responsive ways.
• Assist with administrative tasks such as maintaining confidential case notes and client records.
• Participate in training, supervision and professional development opportunities.
• Collaborate with team members, community partners and Aboriginal organisations and uphold policies and duty of care.
