Job summary

The NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development seeks a Land Services Officer, Aboriginal Community Support, to strengthen relationships with First Nations peoples and support caring for country initiatives across the Western region.

You will travel as needed, develop on-ground projects, and work with communities, land managers and regional partners to identify opportunities and deliver practical natural resource outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience providing practical project support.
• Experience engaging with Aboriginal communities and developing strong relationships.
• Ability to communicate respectfully and work collaboratively with community members, First Nations groups, businesses and land managers.
• Initiative and practical judgement when identifying engagement and project opportunities.
• Ability to work across changing regional priorities and diverse operating environments.
• Well-developed computer literacy skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications and ability to accurately maintain records and information in organisational systems.
• A current NSW Driver Licence and the willingness and capacity to travel throughout the region when required.

Responsibilities

• This is a varied, relationship-focused role combining community engagement, project support and regional travel.
• Travel throughout the Western region as required to meet with communities, stakeholders and project partners.
• Work with communities across a large and diverse region, responding to local priorities and opportunities.
