The NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development seeks a Land Services Officer, Aboriginal Community Support, to strengthen relationships with First Nations peoples and support caring for country initiatives across the Western region.
You will travel as needed, develop on-ground projects, and work with communities, land managers and regional partners to identify opportunities and deliver practical natural resource outcomes.
Make a meaningful contribution to Caring for Country by working directly with Aboriginal communities, First Nations businesses and land managers across the Western region.
As a Land Services Officer, Aboriginal Community Support, you will help strengthen relationships between Local Land Services and First Nations peoples, support greater cultural awareness within the organisation and identify opportunities for Aboriginal communities and businesses to participate in regional projects. Your work will contribute to practical natural resource management outcomes and stronger connections between communities, land managers and Local Land Services.
This is a varied, relationship-focused role combining community engagement, project support and regional travel.
The Western Local Land Services region covers approximately 314,500 square kilometres and includes a diverse mix of grazing, agriculture, mining, tourism and nature conservation. The scale and diversity of the region mean you will have the opportunity to work across different communities, landscapes and operating environments.
At Local Land Services, you can contribute to work that supports healthy landscapes, productive regional industries and resilient communities across NSW. Through its programs and partnerships, Local Land Services connects customers and communities with services, advice and professional networks while helping protect agriculture and the environment from pests, diseases and environmental threats.
We are looking for someone who understands the importance of respectful Aboriginal community engagement and can build strong, trusted relationships across different communities and stakeholder groups.
This is an identified Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identify as Aboriginal and be accepted by the community as such. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification authorised under section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
