Job summary

State of Victoria in Mildura is seeking an Aboriginal Advanced Case Manager for a fixed-term, full-time opportunity aimed at reducing the over-representation of Aboriginal people in the criminal justice system.

The role involves delivering culturally informed case management, developing tailored cultural support plans, and working with both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal clients to support rehabilitation and reduce reoffending.

Qualifications

• A proven ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people and communities.
• Strong knowledge of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in the justice system.
• Experience in applying evidence-based case management frameworks, especially with individuals with complex needs.
• The ability to apply theory to practice – identifying risk, planning interventions, and supporting behaviour change.
• A mindset focused on continuous improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Delivering meaningful case management for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal clients, focused on behaviour change and completing correctional orders.
• Creating tailored cultural support plans to meet the specific needs of Aboriginal clients.
• Assessing risk factors and developing individualised case plans that support rehabilitation and reduce reoffending.
• Providing expert advice to senior leaders and community-based teams on culturally safe and effective approaches to working with Aboriginal clients.
• Building strong partnerships with Aboriginal organisations and support services to improve access to culturally appropriate resources.
• Attending Koori Court to provide advice and support where needed.
