Job summary

Visy Glass Penrith is offering a Mechanical Fitter apprenticeship that introduces you to maintenance of world-class packaging equipment. You’ll be hands-on with conveyors, compressors and packaging lines while working toward a fully qualified trade.

Reporting to the Mechanical Manager, you’ll learn preventative maintenance, fault finding, and gain SAP experience, with 9-day fortnights and day shifts. Eligible applicants should have Year 12 with strong maths and a genuine interest in mechanical

• Completed Year 12 or equivalent with a good mathematic grade.
• Genuine interest in mechanical maintenance and manufacturing.
• Mechanical aptitude with a hands-on approach to learning.

Responsibilities

• Complete a 4-year Mechanical Fitting Apprenticeship in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
• Gain hands-on experience in preventative and planned maintenance, fault finding, servicing and repairs.
• Work with conveyors, utilities, compressors, palletisers, wrapping equipment and processing lines.
• Develop skills in general machining, welding and cutting techniques.
• Learn to use SAP to maintain maintenance records and support planning.
• Receive safety training for high-risk activities and contribute to a safe workplace.

To do this, we rely on a well‑trained maintenance workforce, one you can be part of.

Reporting to the Mechanical Manager, we are looking for an intelligent enthusiastic person with an interest in mechanical work who enjoys working with their hands, to join our highly functional maintenance team. In this role you will learn to maintain all plant equipment and machinery within the site.

Hours: 35 hours per week | 9‑day fortnight | Day shift | Monday to Friday

What you will learn:

• Complete a 4-year Mechanical Fitting Apprenticeship in a fast‑paced FMCG manufacturing environment.
• Gain hands‑on experience in preventative and planned maintenance, fault finding, servicing and repairs to keep equipment running safely and efficiently.
• Work alongside experienced tradespeople and develop skills across conveyors, utilities, compressors, palletisers, wrapping, bagging and strapping equipment.
• Build practical trade skills in general machining, welding, oxy cutting and plasma cutting.
• Learn to use SAP to maintain maintenance records and support maintenance planning.
• Gain exposure to high‑risk work activities, including forklifts, confined spaces, EWPs, working at heights and hot works, with appropriate training.
• Support Health, Safety & Environment initiatives and contribute to a safe workplace.
• Graduate as a qualified Mechanical Fitter with hands‑on experience in world‑class manufacturing equipment and strong career pathways within Visy.
