Job summary
Discover Nursing Australia is seeking a caring Disability Support Worker in Eidsvold to provide 1:1 after-school and school holiday support for a school-aged participant with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental delays. The role values a patient, engaging approach, especially through gaming, to build trust and a calm, supportive relationship.
The position involves flexible hours negotiated with the family, with potential ~40 hours in school holidays and after-school sessions from 3:00 pm
Qualifications
- Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Blue Card (QLD Working with Children clearance) if required.
- National Police Check.
- First Aid Certificate and CPR.
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You.
- Australian working rights and ABN willingness.
- Professional, reliable and participant-focused approach.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 companionship and support to a school-aged participant.
- Engage in activities that align with shared interests, including video games.
- Support social interaction at a comfortable pace and adapt for sensory needs.
- Follow feeding, continence and behaviour support strategies as directed.
- Maintain progress notes and collaborate with family and therapists.
