About the Position

As an Associate, you will play a key role in identifying and supporting the next generation of transformative spin‑off companies. You will be actively involved in every stage of the investment lifecycle, from scouting trends and sourcing deals to conducting due diligence and providing ongoing support to our portfolio companies. In this role, you will build close relationships with founders and contribute to their growth and success as well as build a network in the Austrian academic and research community.

Your Responsibilities

Deal Sourcing & Evaluation: Identify promising university spin‑offs and early‑stage deep‑tech ventures, conducting market research and due diligence. Technical & Commercial Assessment: Analyze scientific and technical feasibility, competitive positioning, and commercialization potential of investment opportunities. Investment Process: Support deal execution, including financial modeling, structuring, and investment memo preparation. Portfolio Support: Work closely with founding teams to provide strategic guidance, operational support, and network connections. Ecosystem Engagement: Build relationships with researchers, universities, incubators, and other ecosystem stakeholders to source high‑potential deals.

Qualifications

• Completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with an excellent academic track record; a background in science, engineering, or a related technical field is a plus.
• At least 3 years of relevant work experience in a fast‑paced environment (e.g., tech startup, venture capital, tier‑1 consulting, or investment banking).
• Scientific researchers are also encouraged to apply, but candidates must demonstrate an ability to operate at a high cadence across multiple fields.
• Strong communication skills in English and the ability to engage with both researchers and commercial stakeholders; German is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills, including technical due diligence.
• Happy to dive deep into technological details of a wide range of fields.
• Having worked in technology analysis is a big plus.
• An ability to build and maintain a professional network in the Austrian academic and university ecosystem as well as the wider European tech ecosystem.

According to Austrian law we are required to state a minimum salary for this position. The expected minimum annual gross salary for this role, on a full‑time basis is EUR 46,000. The salary will be a competitive package based on previous work experience, hence overpayment is possible.
