Job summary

Kiwa PPI is a global provider of QA and inspection services for the energy sector. We are expanding our Quality Control team in Linz, Austria, and seek an experienced Shift Inspector for a ~6 month project ending in October. The role is day shift and requires a valid EU work visa.

Fusion of coating inspection across Concrete Weight Coating and Anti-Corrosion Coating, with emphasis on QA, documentation, and timely reporting to project stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Extensive API 5L inspection experience.
• Experience in coating inspection (CWC and anti-corrosion).
• Strong QA/QC documentation and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform and witness inspections per procedures and project requirements.
• Provide inspection coverage for Concrete Weight Coating (CWC) operations.
• Provide inspection coverage for Anti-Corrosion Coating operations.
• Monitor coating applications and production on the assigned shift.
• Verify materials and processes against specifications.
• Review inspection results and identify deviations.
• Prepare and finalize inspection reports and quality documentation.
• Communicate findings to Lead Inspector and stakeholders.
• Support quality issues reporting and corrective actions.

Job Summary

Kiwa PPI is a global provider of quality assurance and inspection services supporting the energy industry. We are expanding our Quality Control team and are looking for an experienced Shift Inspector to support a major Pipe Mill project in Linz, Austria. The position is part of a project currently planned for approximately 6 months, with the initial assignment planned for the end of October.

About the role

IMPORTANT: Candidates living locally or in the surrounding area of Linz, Austria, will be given priority.

A valid European Union work visa / authorization to work in the EU is mandatory for this position.

As a Shift Inspector, you will provide quality inspection coverage during the assigned day shift, ensuring that coating activities are performed in accordance with API 5L, project specifications, applicable industry standards, and PPI Quality & Engineering procedures.

The role will provide inspection coverage across the coating operations, including Concrete Weight Coating (CWC) and Anti-Corrosion Coating.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and witness inspection and testing activities in accordance with approved procedures and project requirements
• Provide inspection coverage for Concrete Weight Coating (CWC) operations
• Provide inspection coverage for Anti-Corrosion Coating operations
• Monitor coating application and production activities throughout the assigned shift
• Verify coating materials, processes and application parameters against approved specifications and procedures
• Perform and/or witness relevant coating inspection and testing activities
• Review inspection and testing results and identify any deviations or non-conformities
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of inspection reports and quality documentation
• Communicate inspection findings and quality issues to the Lead Inspector and relevant project stakeholders
• Support the identification, reporting and follow-up of quality issues and corrective actions
• Promote safe working practices and maintain a strong culture of quality, accountability and operational excellence

Do you have what it takes?

This position is ideal for an experienced QC / Coating Inspector with a strong background in Pipe Mill and coating inspection activities.

The ideal candidate must have:

• Proven practical experience with API 5L - MANDATORY
• Proven experience as a QC Inspector / Shift Inspector / Coating Inspector in a Pipe Mill, fabrication or similar industrial environment
• Experience with Anti-Corrosion Coating inspection
• Experience with Concrete Weight Coating (CWC) is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of quality assurance, inspection and testing requirements
• Ability to monitor coating processes and identify deviations from approved specifications
• Experience reviewing inspection and testing results and preparing quality documentation
• Strong reporting, documentation and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with production teams, inspectors and project stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail, accountability and commitment to operational excellence
• Flexibility and willingness to work on a day shift
