Job summary

Kiwa PPI is seeking an experienced Shift Inspector in Linz, Austria to support a major Pipe Mill project. The role focuses on coating inspection coverage during the day shift, ensuring compliance with API 5L, project specs and PPI QC procedures.

This independent contractor position targets local candidates, with EU work authorization required. The assignment is planned for about 6 months, beginning near the end of October.

Qualifications

• MANDATORY API 5L experience.
• Proven QC/Shift/Coating inspection background in Pipe Mill or similar setting.
• Experience with Anti-Corrosion Coating inspection is desirable.
• Strong QA, inspection and testing knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform and witness inspection and testing per approved procedures and project requirements.
• Provide coating inspection for CWC and Anti-Corrosion operations.
• Monitor coating application and production during the shift.
• Verify materials, processes and parameters against specs.
• Prepare and review inspection reports and quality documentation.
• Communicate findings to Lead Inspector and stakeholders.
• Support corrective actions and quality issue follow-up.

Kiwa PPI is a global provider of quality assurance and inspection services supporting the energy industry. We are expanding our Quality Control team and are looking for an experienced Shift Inspector to support a major Pipe Mill project in Linz, Austria. The position is part of a project currently planned for approximately 6 months, with the initial assignment planned for the end of October.
Overview:

IMPORTANT: Candidates living locally or in the surrounding area of Linz, Austria, will be given priority.

A valid European Union work visa / authorization to work in the EU is mandatory for this position.

As a Shift Inspector, you will provide quality inspection coverage during the assigned day shift , ensuring that coating activities are performed in accordance with API 5L, project specifications, applicable industry standards, and PPI Quality & Engineering procedures .

The role will provide inspection coverage across the coating operations, including Concrete Weight Coating (CWC) and Anti-Corrosion Coating .

Key Responsibilities

The Shift Inspector will be responsible for providing quality inspection coverage during the assigned shift, including:

• Perform and witness inspection and testing activities in accordance with approved procedures and project requirements
• Provide inspection coverage for Concrete Weight Coating (CWC) operations
• Provide inspection coverage for Anti-Corrosion Coating operations
• Monitor coating application and production activities throughout the assigned shift
• Verify coating materials, processes and application parameters against approved specifications and procedures
• Perform and/or witness relevant coating inspection and testing activities
• Review inspection and testing results and identify any deviations or non-conformities
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of inspection reports and quality documentation
• Communicate inspection findings and quality issues to the Lead Inspector and relevant project stakeholders
• Support the identification, reporting and follow-up of quality issues and corrective actions
• Promote safe working practices and maintain a strong culture of quality, accountability and operational excellence

Responsabilities:

This position is ideal for an experienced QC / Coating Inspector with a strong background in Pipe Mill and coating inspection activities.

The ideal candidate must have :

• Proven practical experience with API 5L – MANDATORY
• Proven experience as a QC Inspector / Shift Inspector / Coating Inspector in a Pipe Mill, fabrication or similar industrial environment
• Experience with Anti-Corrosion Coating inspection
• Experience with Concrete Weight Coating (CWC) is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of quality assurance, inspection and testing requirements
• Ability to monitor coating processes and identify deviations from approved specifications
• Experience reviewing inspection and testing results and preparing quality documentation
• Strong reporting, documentation and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with production teams, inspectors and project stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail, accountability and commitment to operational excellence
• Flexibility and willingness to work on a day shift

API 5L experience is a mandatory requirement for this position. Candidates without proven API 5L experience will not be considered.
