Uneek Global in Linz, Austria is seeking a Setting Out Engineer to join a major construction project delivering Data Centre, Advanced Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, and Logistics facilities across Austria and Europe. You will be responsible for accurate setting out, surveying, quality checks and as-built information throughout the construction programme.

You will work closely with site management, engineers and subcontractors to ensure works meet design information, tolerances and safety

Setting Out Engineer | Major Construction Projects | Linz, Austria | €80,000

About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading international construction contractor delivering major Data Centre, Advanced Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Logistics and Critical Environment projects across Austria and wider Europe.

Due to continued growth and a strong European project pipeline, they are looking to appoint an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join their project delivery team in Linz, Austria.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in the technical delivery of a major construction project, taking responsibility for accurate setting out, surveying, quality checks and as-built information throughout the construction programme.

You will work closely with site management, engineers, subcontractors and the wider project team to ensure works are delivered accurately, safely, efficiently and in accordance with design information and project tolerances.

What You Will Be Doing

• Carrying out setting out, levelling and surveying activities across the project.
• Setting out structural, civil and construction elements in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
• Interpreting construction drawings, specifications and design information.
• Establishing, checking and maintaining accurate control points and benchmarks.
• Verifying dimensions, coordinates and levels of completed construction works.
• Ensuring construction works comply with required tolerances and design specifications.
• Recording and maintaining accurate survey data and as-built information.
• Producing and updating as-built drawings and setting out records where required.
• Coordinating setting out requirements with site engineers, project managers and subcontractors.
• Providing technical support to site management and construction teams.
• Carrying out layout checks and supporting site quality-control activities.
• Identifying and resolving discrepancies between design information and site conditions.
• Managing and maintaining surveying instruments and equipment.
• Ensuring surveying equipment is correctly calibrated and maintained.
• Supporting the preparation and completion of ITPs, inspection records, checklists and quality documentation.
• Working closely with subcontractors to ensure works are positioned and completed correctly.
• Supporting the delivery of key project milestones and programme targets.
• Ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with project health, safety and environmental requirements.

What We Are Looking For

• Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience working as a Setting Out Engineer, Site Engineer or similar site-based engineering role.
• Strong practical experience carrying out setting out and surveying on construction projects.
• Competent in the use of Total Stations, GPS, laser levels and other surveying equipment.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, coordinates, levels and tolerances.
• Experience establishing and maintaining site control points and benchmarks.
• Experience completing as-built surveys and maintaining accurate site records.
• Good understanding of construction sequencing and site operations.
• Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve technical issues on site.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with site teams, subcontractors and project management.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Strong understanding of construction health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Experience working for a main contractor or specialist contractor would be advantageous.
• Data Centre experience is highly desirable.
• Experience within Advanced Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Logistics, Industrial or other technically complex construction environments will also be considered.
• Previous experience working on projects in Austria or wider European markets would be advantageous.
• Professional fluency in English; German language skills would be beneficial but are not essential.
