Zusammenfassung

University of Vienna invites a Senior Scientist to join the Aerosol Physics and Environmental Physics (AEP) Group. You will work on ground-based and airborne measurements, support ACTRIS facilities, and collaborate with NASA, NOAA, NCAR, Airbus, and other partners.

The role includes teaching, supervision, and software development for data analysis. You will lead field campaigns and instrument operations, contribute to data processing, and help advance atmospheric research with a strong emphasis

Qualifikationen

• PhD in physics and/or aerosol-related topics (atmospheric sciences, aerosol chemistry, meteorology).
• Expertise in atmospheric/aerosol physics and in-field experimental work with in-situ measurements.
• Excellent programming skills (Python) and experience with collaborative software development using version control (Git).
• Willingness to travel internationally for measurement campaigns and to participate in research flights.

Aufgaben

• Participate in unique ground-based and airborne research projects with NASA, NOAA, NCAR, Airbus and other partners.
• Engage in multi-week field deployments for aircraft-based measurements.
• Focus on airborne in-situ observations of aerosols and ice particles with OAPs and related instruments.
• Develop novel methods and analysis tools for coarse-mode aerosol and cloud data (image processing, ML).
• Maintain and enhance the University of Vienna Core Facility for ACTRIS aerosol observatories and coordinate participation in field campaigns.
