DL Remote in Austria is seeking a Senior Platform Architect (m/f/d) to lead architectural and design work for the platform layer, bridging a mature core system with new applications. You will draft and implement backend services, APIs and scalable infrastructure for a product in daily use, while shaping team structures and technical processes from the ground up.

The role is hybrid remote with 2–3 days in Klagenfurt; onboarding may include trips to Graz; relocation/travel costs covered.

Hybrid Remote in Klagenfurt | Top Travel & Relocation Package On behalf of our client—an IoT/ SaaS scaleup company —we are building a new Platform Team in Klagenfurt and recruiting a Senior Platform Architect (m/f/d).

In this position, you will take on architectural and design responsibility for the platform layer bridging a mature core system and new applications. You will draft and implement backend services, APIs, and scalable infrastructure for a product in daily real-world use, while helping actively shape team structures and technical processes from the ground up.

We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong track record as a Senior Backend or Fullstack Engineer in long-term product development, proven architecture experience with object-oriented languages (Java, C#, .NET, or Python), and the willingness to take on technical ownership for sustainable solutions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Design and develop resilient backend systems and API endpoints for our central platform.
• Define and substantiate technical architecture and design choices for upcoming system modules.
• Regularly improve, scale up, and tune current services alongside the core platform infrastructure.
• Integrate fresh functionalities into our proven legacy system utilizing neat and structured interfaces.
• Assume full technical responsibility for operational performance, reliability, and deployment processes in production.
• Serve as a key technical advisor in our growing Platform Team, guiding technical frameworks and methodologies from the very beginning.

WHOM WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Multi-year track record working as a Senior Backend or Full-Stack developer in a dedicated product-focused environment rather than project-based agencies.
• Deep expertise in using object-oriented languages like Java, C#/.NET, or Python.
• Demonstrated background in system architecture with a history of owning and maintaining the systems you build.
• Solid practical knowledge of designing APIs, microservices, and managing communications between distributed architectures.
• Good understanding of containerization technologies, continuous integration/continuous deployment, and current DevOps workflows.
• Passion for joining an early-stage team structure and helping to define joint workflows and team dynamics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

REMOTE WORK POLICY

In this role, you can work hybrid remote (2-3 days remote) from the new office in Klagenfurt. During the initial onboarding phase you will travel regularly (a few times/month) to the HQ of the company in Graz. Should you relocate or travel for this role, your relocation or travel costs will naturally be covered.
