Job summary

MED-EL, based in Innsbruck, Austria, seeks an experienced embedded Linux engineer to design, extend and maintain a Yocto-based distribution for cutting-edge hardware platforms.

You will configure bootloaders and kernels, implement robust CI/CD pipelines, and diagnose complex hardware/software issues using GDB, JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers. Strong English is required; German is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in CS, IT, or related field.
• 3–5 years of embedded Linux development with Yocto, ideally in CI/CD.
• Strong C programming; knowledge of Git; C++ and Rust are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, extend, and maintain a Yocto-based Linux distribution for embedded platforms.
• Configure bootloaders, kernels, and BSPs for custom hardware.
• Build, integrate, and test pipelines for reliable development workflows.
• Diagnose hardware/software issues with GDB, JTAG, scopes, and logic analyzers.
• Develop security measures across the embedded Linux stack from secure boot to user space.
