kununu is seeking a Senior Data Engineer (m/f/d) to own and evolve the data warehouse and end-to-end data integrations. You will lead improvements in data quality, performance, and governance while enabling internal teams and external partners with scalable data products.

Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Business Analysts to deliver innovative data solutions using Python, SQL, dbt, and Terraform across Google Cloud, with a strong emphasis on automation and production-ready

Join our team at kununu and become a vital part of our dynamic group of professionals. As a Senior Data Engineer (m/f/d), you'll collaborate with fellow experts in the field and work closely with our team of data scientists to drive innovation and data-driven insights.

Responsibilities

• Own, maintain, and continuously evolve the kununu data warehouse and its end-to-end data integrations.
• Lead initiatives to extend our data platform capabilities and enable internal teams as well as external partners in their daily work.
• Define and drive standards for data quality, performance, reliability, scalability, and governance.
• Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities and take ownership of solving them.
• Collaborate closely with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Business Analysts to deliver scalable and innovative data products.

Qualifications

• Extensive professional experience and strong expertise in Python, software engineering principles, algorithms, data structures, and development best practices.
• Deep hands‑on knowledge of databases, data warehouse solutions, SQL, and ideally dbt.
• In‑depth experience with Infrastructure as Code, especially Terraform, and at least one major cloud provider, preferably Google Cloud.
• A proven track record of successfully delivering ETL or ELT projects at scale.
• A strong engineering mindset with a focus on automation, testing, maintainability, observability, and production‑ready code.
• The ability to identify technical trade‑offs, improve existing systems, and drive pragmatic solutions.
• Excellent English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

The gross annual salary for this position ranges between €70,000 and €80,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
