Job summary

Enery is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own the backend and integration layer of our internal platform, connecting a renewable fleet, data warehouse, and daily tools. This hands-on role sets the architecture, writes code, and mentors the team.

You will design scalable APIs, work with Snowflake data paths, and collaborate with Data and DevOps on deployments, observability, and security. A strong background in Python and cloud-native systems is required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional backend experience, 3+ in senior roles.
• Strong Python for long-running services (async/ASGI).
• Experience with production systems, logging, alerting, and on-call.
• Hands-on with industrial/real-time protocols (Modbus, OPC UA, IEC 60870-5-104).
• Knowledge of at least one compiled language (Go, Rust, Java).
• Relational DBs and analytics warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
• Experience with cloud IaC and IAM design.

Responsibilities

• Own the platform backend: identity, access control, logging, shared services.
• Design and build integrations to data warehouse, cloud estate, and external systems.
• Connect plant telemetry to energy-exchange APIs and market data.
• Set API design, service boundaries, authentication, and secrets management.
• Collaborate with Data and DevOps on read paths and deployment pipelines.
• Mentor developers via code reviews and pair programming.
• Lead on-call rotation once production live.
