Job summary

Camunda is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for a new Data Streaming team to architect and build a durable streaming layer that enables customers to access process data at scale. You will decouple data streaming from the live engine and partner with Product, Data Layer, and Distributed Systems teams to evolve the analytics platform.

You’ll design and implement the core streaming infra, support integration with systems like Kafka, and guide architectural decisions in a small, high-ownership

Qualifications

• 7+ years as backend engineer with Java and distributed systems experience.
• Experience building analytics serving layers over table formats like Iceberg/Delta Lake.
• Proven work with object storage (S3/GCS/Azure) and idempotent upload/commit workflows.
• Understanding of data consistency, atomicity and concurrency in data-intensive systems.

Responsibilities

• Rebuild analytics data path to decouple from live engine and scale.
• Design core streaming infra to back Data Streaming with durable storage.
• Develop customer-facing streaming capabilities, e.g., Kafka integration.
• Make architectural decisions in a small, high-ownership team.
• Participate in on-call rotations and collaborate with Support/SRE.
